Looks like he was too lazy to re-make the sump plug hole and just cut and folded it out. Sweet though. Thinking of doing something similar.
That sump would pretty much be SITTING ON THE GROUND! in our cars roy!
take a look at where the stock sump sits now in comparison to the crossmember, you can only really extend outwards. i wouldnt want to make it much lower![]()
why not make an extrernal resovior inline with your oil cooler plumbing if you want extra oil capacity..?.
And why do you want extra oil anyways.. if the temperature control of the standard size oil supply is adequite why enlarge it.?? You just lugging around extra oil that you don't need then.
yep agreed.
only one thing worse than oil that is too hot, and that is oil that is too cold from having to much of it.

The oil cooler set-up I want to run encorporates an inline thermostat and the more oil the better last time I checked. And even if I don't run the cooler, more capacity will help my heating troubles somewhat. The inline resevoir isn't a bad idea.
I can do all the fab at work, so it's not costing me a penny and there's nothing wrong with an extra litre of oil. I'd rather lug around a litre of oil than 3 tonne of stereo gear. At the moment at constant throttle I can't get it to stay under 200-220DegF and a couple of hillruns saw it up close to 260. So anything I can do is helping.
Blair: Most of that pan looks outwards extended, looks like he chopped it up and went ooh fuck and left it standard depth but not width.

4ages cook their oil. fact. having a well designed oversized sump is a good idea.

run oil cooler + lines will allow for an extra 500mls. I top my engine up over full to allow for the extra capacity my motor has with the oil cooler
