Ahh sweet as. Sounds good. How much hp you looking for?
depends what you want to run in cow, if you still wanna run in clubsprint, you can't do shit. not even FRP hatch, all glass etc etc etc
But in open you only need OEM front glass. other than that you are pretty well open to do almost anything.
the aim is 250kw.
Im honestly stunned that no one has...
Just a couple of things that catch my attention…
Cutting at the front chassis rails, would you not have been better off having the engine sit 2 inches higher? You’d still have an extremely low COG, and actually retain some strength in the car. Not to mention that it appears as if what you’ve done to the rails to gain clearance isn’t enough anyway… May just be the illusion of the photos or something, will be interesting to see with cams in and covers on… And what you’re doing in the inner guards to compensate for the rails scares me a little…
Radiator in the boot? Why? There seems to be ample room in front of the engine…
Manifolds, well exhaust manifold at least, is going to be mighty interesting to see built, let alone fit… Cross members and caster rod brackets etc to manipulate… Especially getting the turbo to sit up on top where it normally does, although I suppose you could put it anywhere you wish, in the boot with the radiator I suppose?! Going forward facing plenum or traditional Subaru backwards design?
I can respect someone having an idea and setting to work on achieving it, it’s just from the 15 pages of build log I breezed over I don't see this going far... Happy for you to prove my doubts wrong, honestly I'd love to see an EJ powered Sprinter finished... I just can’t see it being this one.
PS (If you’re stubborn enough, like I was, you’ll use the criticism as motivation to finish the thing, instead of being just another one of the far too often seen big plans that just don’t happen… Good luck.)
Its alright medwin, no offence taken,
Yes the rails are far more stronger than you realise, they look narrow in the pics, truth is the cross section of the rail is 65x80mm, far to big and heavy yes, but far from weak. The inner gaurd is the new rail, and before you say it is wrong, I have had 3 top fabricators and a CAMS scrut give me the ok, its not the best way it could be done, but it is done. (New Lightweghit shell will be built for 2012. This is a development car, and by then I might be a halfway decent fabricator)
The engine could not sit any higher, you have obviously not taken into account the tailshaft. If it was any higher, the tailshaft would sit too high in the car, and the yoke angle on the tailshaft would be to severe.
Radiator in the boot due to a v mounted intercooler, why v mount, downforce. Also I have added a bit of weight to the front, so if I can spread the weight of the cooling system over the length over the car I can get a bit of the distribution back (bit medevil, but why not) Plus I think its cool.
As for clearance, there is a shitload. More than a wrx infact, I can actually change the heads in the car. Should have 40-50mm clearance when I put a complete engine in this coming week.
I intially placed the engine with castor rods and sway bar installed, I have enough room for the headers, and will most likely run the turbo in the front top corner of the bay, but am toying with the idea of setting it up like the old JUN lemon impreza (turbo sideways at the back of the bay). Manifold will initially be a flipped STi item, while HiLine develops the new manifold.
The fabrication may not be top notch, it may not all be 100% perfect, but I have spent countless hours planning this lay out, so I am confident it will work.
you know what would be funny, medwin not having an opinion
hahahaha bring it on bilo.
But I'm not confident, you're man enough to bolt a turbo to that carina, I heard real horsepower makes biggo a saaaaad panda.
^ i also heard this, biggo wont be able to drive and keep his pants dry
