This swap has been spoken of since I can remember being online.

I even measured up the EJ22 in my first Liberty to see if it would fit into my first sprinter shell back on 2002.

Since then i've heard of a couple of guys talking about it...

But I have not seen one finished / running as yet...

There has to be one out there somewhere i reckon Nick, but mine will be better haha

And yes it will be turbo, mentioned that before though.

Should have the chassis rails etc etc, finished by saturday. If it doesn't rain, I need a shed at home

To be honest, once I got a chance to muck around a bit working on an EJ22 / EJ20, I found it just as easy as working on any 4K motor...

I think people are scared of boxers, like people are afraid of rotary engines, but once you get into it, the boxer and rotary are pretty compact and basic engines.

I seriously welcome the idea of the FT86 having a boxer over the cheap "covered in plastic covers" modern options

how true Nick, I think its great that they are using a subaru donk, parts are everywhere, heaps of mechanics have a sound knowledge of them, and they produce torque before 4000rpm, unlike the piddly inline 4s they would have used otherwise.

With the correct size turbo, yes... Torque a plenty

However, the stock VF12 on mine, makes not much under 3000RPM which is great for fuel economy, power from 3000-6500 RPM is great though

Yeah, still topmount. Gets EPIC heat soak in summer.

Stupidest fucking idea ever. IMO they should have had a small FMIC on them on the radiator from factory.

I will bin it as soon as this winter is gone. FMIC goodness. Considering reversing the spider manifold too, to shorten the IC piping to the FMIC to decrease the lag.
