hey gunner
just read through the complete thread, and am entreaged in many ways but also disappointed. you are not alone and i know exactly what you are going through. i think you need to worry less about sponsorship and having a strong motor, drop any old ej20 turbo in the hole and get the body finished first. worry about performance and tuning once it is on the track.
on a better note i do like how you notched out the chassis rails in the end , does result in a lower tunnel. if you are planing on another body at a later date then stop fluffing around with this one and work out what your not happy with when it come to building the next.
also be very careful with where you add strength and and where you reduce it. if to much strength is added in one spot then it makes the rest weaker. ie you tap a wall with that cross member thing the whole front end will be written off not just a bent corner.
i havent got an 86 but its not far from what you are trying to do, will just leave this pic here
if you want any info or help let me know. i should be down in sydney for wtac next year
looking foward to seeing your progress
