Default Fuel pump to fit in-tank, ae71.

    hey guys,

does anyone know what fuel pump will drop into the standard ae71 fuel tank?
was thinking something like a sr20 pump?
i just dont want to run a surge tank, rather go for a intank pump.

    feedback appreciated!

    cheers guys, ben.

I've found with using an efi pump in a non efi tank, once you get down to about 1/4 you start to get fuel surges as it is missing the internal surge tank to prevent this.

    winnnaahhhh.

but if you do want to put an intank in, it is going to be a custom job no matter what pump you choose.

sr20 pump would be alright, but like i say its not gonna bolt in.

easiest option is to track down a jap ae86 tank, you get the baffles and a fuel pump already in side. and with a bit of effort will bolt into your ae71.

had a think about this before i relocted all my pumps and shit to under the car.

i have a mate with this type of set up you are talking bout.. what he has done is running the pump like you said but has had a box welded in the tank with small holes cut into the bottem you then mount you pump in to the box. so when you add you fuel to the tank it fills up into the inside of your box and acts like a surge tank,

great idea my mate uses it for hes sr20 ae86 200rwkws and never has a prob just adds fuel when the fuel light comes on.

just need to talk someone in to welding the inside of your fuel tank.

i ran a rb30 skyline in tank pump in my old 4age setup,

that fed a surge tank though......

before my surge tank I ran a external fuel pump and as said, you get a bit of surge but it was only on certain curves.

If your driving your car at the moment just save up for another 2 weeks and surge tank it, they take like 20 mins to fit and cost like 150 bucks.
