Thread: Help Please: Wiring for the windscreen washer bottle

  1. #1

Default Need help reading/understanding wiring diagram please

Hey guys, the exhausting year long battle to get my dirty AE86 a roadworthy certificate is almost complete! (thanks to everyone for the help Ive received to get this far )

The (hopefully) last issue I'm battling with now is to find the where I need to run wires from up to power the windscreen washer bottle.

I take it one of the previous owners had intentionally removed the washer bottle, as the rear wiper has been entirely removed and the hole bogged over, but they've also done something to the wiring for it, as the plug isn't where the it supposed to be.

I'm trying to use the electrical manual to find where the wire originates from so I can run a new one, but I'm really struggling to make sense of the electrical manual.

If anyone knows where the wires come from (which plug or terminal from which junction box where) or can help me make sense of this wiring diagram that would be awesome

    Thank you guys!

Battery, igntion switch, fuse, to motor then back to your switch.

Surely the dude hasn't cut the wires, just tucked them out the way. Go to where the bottle was then find the closest harness and look for a plug with blue and blue-yellow wires. or look for a pair of cut wires maybe.

    Thanks for the help Skylar

There's heaps of cut wires everywhere on this thing, and lots of plugs which don't plug into anything. Apparently this car was drifted competitively once by some chick who had a 4AGE in it, so i assume they never planned for it to drive on the road again, hence why the removal of things have been done pretty recklessly lol. And I'm pretty damn sure it has a 4AGE engine loom in it

To me it looks like the diagram says one of the wires originates from plug "1C" terminal 3... then goes to the plug... From my terminal 3, on the 1C plug on Junction box 1, the wire is green with a black stripe with 2 red dashes through it. And that wire goes with the harness which travels along the top of the wheel arch (under the front quarter panel) then has been cut and soldered to a bright green wire (non toyota wire) which goes across the radiator support to join up to the passenger side headlight..? Manual states otherwise, but I could be reading it wrong.

I found 2 blue wires cut in that same harness.. Blue with one red dash going through it, and one with 2 red dashes

Is the switch the relay too? i.e. are they the same thing, even though they appear to be 2 separate things on the diagram? Also, there are 3 "Washer Motors" on this diagram... Does anyone know which particular one applies to the motor on the bottle which is bolted up next to the overflow bottle?

I was under the impression you had to push the wiper switch to work the washer motor. From memory they were blue and blue yellow

AE86's have no stalk, but the dial on the dash performs the same function. If your car has a jap body loom, then the washer plug will come out next to the wiper motor plug. They may have swapped it over too when doing the engine conversion.

Nah, no plug anywhere... I should have mentioned, I had the same trouble with the windscreen wipers.. There was no plug, it had been removed (unplugged from the junction box on the passenger side).. I took it to a Toyota wrecker/repairer and they made a new one, but that took a while and cash AND i have no int. wiper mode.

If anyone has their car apart enough to follow the wire from their washer bottle to where it originates or to which junction box (passenger side, drivers side or switch even) that would be super awesome lol. Thanks

F*ck this stupid wiring diagram!!!.. I checked ALL the locations for ALL configurations (LHD, RHD, EFI, non EFI) and NONE of them have a blue and yellow cable coming out where written.. (I might possibly be reading it wrong) but places I checked were terminal 7 on plug 3A, t. 12 on 3C (LHD), t. 2 and 9 on plug J (RHD and LHD) AND t. 8 on plug I... And I add not a single one of those plugs had a yellow and blue wire coming out of them anywhere...

Im going to go punch my car, then try and wire the f*ck straight from the switch on the dash... if that doesnt work the baseball bat is coming out! (omg im sooo pissed off ARGHHHH!!!!!)
