    Unhappy 7AGE Issue?

    Car - AE86

Motor - 7AGE, smallport pistons, 4age HG, smallport head, TRD copy extractors and adaptronic ECU

WAT - So we have been trying to run this is for some time (Bottom end rebuild)... It has a new ignotor and coil, new Dizzy, cap and rotor. We drive the car for around 40 KM's and water temp stays under 90... Engine stalls, like coming off highway onto stop sign.. Try to start up and dosn't do it.. Let it sit for a little bit and it will start again.

About 10 mins later of driving it starts like, almost as if it's missing, then it will stall again.

This is really pissing me off, does anyone have an idea of what it would be?

I think the cam timing if off a little bit, which is being looked at this weekend but I couldn't see this being the cause.

    Thanks,
    marvis.

i had symptoms that you describe,

turned out my fuel pump was dying, and i was losing fuel pressure.

let the pump have a break, and it would work well for another ~20mins.

might pay to get a fuel pressure guage from autobahn, they are like 30$.

also dive inside that ecu, see if there is any errors etc

i replaced almost everything before i realised it was fuel delivery problem.

could also be a faulty map sensor or crank\cam angle sensor marv.

Laptop, wait for car to die, bring up the gauges and see what's not reading right. Then figure out if the sensor is at fault or the wiring to the sensor. or something else not electronics related.

i just remembered i have a video of what mine was doing with the dodgy fuel pressure/pump

the video itself is a little dodgy, but you can hear it struggling.

    yours anything like that?

Sort of, more popping and won't rev over 6k the needle just jumps really high but it's not reving.

Car just got tuned, so I would hope map etc is OK.

Fuel pump is a brand new Bosch 044

    LOL.

Cams seem to be out by 10deg intake and 18deg exhaust, retarded..
