Righto i had a chat to some of the boys at work. Ive bought some cutting compound, petroleum based polish and a tub of wax. All i need is to buy some elbow grease and I should have the 9th wonder of the modern world.
Right?
+1
and how long should you wait to wax/seal fresh acrylic,
Have been told to do it straight away but have read before that you should wait up to a couple of months for paint to fully cure?

ive never clar bare-d but i also wash polish and wax. apparently your supposed to wax straight after the polish so it 'locks in the polish' and creates a 'shell' around it....
That is true,
try the Clay Bar one day you'll be amazed what it pulls out
so how do you work the clay bar, i would imagine you dont rub or use circular motion as that would do some serious damage?
It's used with a lubricant, in the case of meguiars, you use Quick Detailer, you spray on some detailer then lightly rub the clay bar across the fluid, doesn't scratch paint, but removes all fallout etc. If you plan on using, rub your hand across paint before using clay bar, then do the same after, you'll be amazed the crap it lifts off the paint.
Well I cut and polished my civic on the weekend.
Kitten cream cutting compound (medium) worked really well, definitely recommend it!
I had previously tried Autoglaze cut and polish but that did barely anything for the paint defects.
So this time I used the Kitten one to cut then a light cut and polish with the Autoglaze after wards and it came up very nice!
I've got the Meguiars clay kit and love it, gets so many things off the car!
looking for a decent wax to finish it off with, i bought the cheap one from supercheap, but its not much good...
anyone have any recommendations for future waxing?
oh and i managed to break my buffer... meh for $30 what do you expect.
