wheel bearings

gday just had a quick question about wheel bearings ive never done em on cars are they tapered or not and whats the procedure for tightening them do you want much drag i dont imagine you wouldon cars but we tighten them till they wont quite do one full turn and then loosen to nearest hole

I did mine just recently. Yes they are a taper bearing. Basically what I did was. After I packed them with grease and put them back in the hub. Was to put the hub on and tighten the nut up as much as I could by hand using a 1/2-inch ratchet. To seat the bearings then you back it off. And spin the wheel then gently tighten it back up little by little until the wheel free spins and slowly comes to a halt. You don’t want it to spin forever tho or for it to slow up to quickly. i can see its a little late but thought you might like to know how to do it any way
