Default 20v Timing Belt whine started 3000k after i changed it WTF?!

    Car - AE86

    motor - 20v Silvertop

use - its says personal on the rego?

    problem - Timing belt whine

    occurs/started when - 3000km after i changed it

personal situation - boored, broke and confused

So i replaced my timing belt before i installed my new motor in March, over the past couple of days the timing belt has started to whine. Its a genuine toyota belt too and I dont think timing belts magically tighten themselves.

Has anyone seen or heard of this happening before?

id would just reset the tension and see how it goes.

Maybe you need a belt tensioner bearing now also. It is common for a mechanic to replace the timing belt pulley/bearing/tensioner when a new timing belt is put on. Mostly just to save time down the track, as its harder to get to on a FWD.

Make sure you have a silvertop belt and not one for a blacktop.

When I put my Toda gears on, there was a bit of black T-belt dust for a while untill the belt settled into the new gears (which obviously are cut very slightly different to the stock ones.)
