1" wider than offset is legal, tyre sizes arnt the matter at hand, cops may hastle you if you use spacers or if you have large neg offset they say your wheels are really wide etc, even if you do explain offset too them their too dim witted to actually listen to what you have to say.

where on the west side does stretch tyres ? anywhere ? or only some places do them ? where ?
But legally you can only increase track (ie reduce offset) by 25mm anyway, so you can only legally run wheels that are one inch wider and 12.5mm different to standard offset.
In reality if the tyres don't stick out past the guards and you don;t drive like a tool you should be ok. All of this information is freely available on the vicroads website by the way.
unless you find where it says that on vicroads and print it out i doubt the authorities or roadworthy places will take your word for it, i got knocked back on rwc for my wheels and 2 sets of previous wheels
