    Default WTB - Clean straight un-molested AE86 - pref with 4AGE

I am keen to acquire what seems to be a needle in a haystack and perhaps this is the wrong place to advertise, having such a large proportion of drift fans?

I'd like to find a clean, straight AE86 Levin which has not been bastardised and doesn't look like something thats done ten rounds in a bar fight

ADM or JDM, no bodykits, complete and tidy interior, no/minimal rust, paint condition acceptable for its age, no locked diffs, dodgy suspesion mods with Nissan struts and oversized LCA's etc.
Want something that resembles OEM JDM GTV Levin

Would prefer a 4AGE bigport already fitted, but similarwould be considered (20v GZE etc) again keeping it closer to OEM toyota than anything else

It amazes me how much people ask these days for what is essentially an 80's corolla (flame suit on - no offence intended). I am a fan too, but probably for sentimental reasons than anything else, I owned one for 8yrs back in the 90's and had it at GT spec, but silly me sold it. They are great cars and handle well, but the drift craze seems to have given them a whole new status I dont understand.

Seriously - is there some new AE86 tax these days Look at these shocking examples:

Do these guys really expect these dollars? NO ONE IS BIDDING ON THEM GUYS!!

Or is it just a simple supply and demand and they are plenty of naive/immature buyers that believe them to be worthy. The AE86 arena seems to b e the only modified car that happily adds up the cost of all mods and whack it onto the price - any other car owner accepts mods dont increase the value of the car neccessarily.

I wont single out ads in this forum out of respect, but there is plenty of dream ads here too

Anyway enough of a rant - this is only my third post so I'm sure I'll get plenty of flack for it. Have been looking for 3yrs and know my AE86's

This is more what I am looking for, but cannot justify the price

(again no bids, let alone anything NEAR to the Buy it Now price)

If anyone has a tidy example as described above and wants realistic dollars then I am all ears

    * Edit - my apologies mods - wrong section to post WTB - feel free to move it to Cars or parts wanted section*

Your right mate, those cars are over priced. But you don't have to have a massive winge about it.

There are some nice cars on here for better prices... You will probably have better luck finding one if you took all of that complaining out of your ad.

For a good condition ADM AE86 with a 4A conversion with little rust and decent paint, expect to pay around $8,000. There are much cheaper cars out there but ones in good condition are getting hard to come by.

    Good luck with your search...

Unfortunately (Or fortunately-depending on what position you're in) that's what AE86's cost these days, your best bet is to find someone that needs a quick sell due to an easy defect to fix as you'll get a car like that on the cheap.

you snooze you lose, shouldnt have sold your 86 back in the day. there are fewer and fewer left every year, buy something that your budget allows and modify it too your taste, or import and compliance one from japan (around $14,000 last time i got a quote).
xy falcons, mini's,chargers all cost alot more then they did back in the day, its the fans of the cars that make up the prices, majority of the time its the cars that people loved that go up in value. either you want the car or you dont, plenty of other cars that "handle" well.

Fellahs, didn't mean to offend anyone, there is just alot of inflation when is comes to these cars.........even in the XY, Mini example mentioned above - incomplete, flogged and poor condition examples dont pull big $$ And its drawing a long bow to put Hachi's in the same category, there is far more heritage in the others

I agree its whatever people want to pay - so be it, there are lots of young exuberant Initial D's out there prepared to shell out big bucks so I'll just drop it
Point taken - sorry for the long bitch-fest, re-reading it - its a bit dramatic, I'm over it
Sorry - my bad - I am Brisbane area

Err thanks for repeating what I already pointed out above. And yes I'm looking at other options - the AE86 decision is a sentimental one. Other option is an AW11 for less than half the cost

No need to get personal buddy......................
    ..........Dreamin - eh
Missed this one by days and it was offered for $6500, no idea what the end sale price was
    )

Only downside was no interior and Panda, otherwise spot on

my 2 cents, id say they are too cheap, to justify my ad its the hours and weeks and months of hard work and lost pay checks every payday to make it better and better only to sell it for a fraction of what you bought and spent on it, those ebay ads arent very good examples they are just absolute extremes, its good they are expensive it makes them a car for Enthusists otherwise it wouldnt be such a rarity to see one, and i dont know about everyone else but the joy when you see a fellow ae86 driver whilst driving your own is overwhelming you cant help but wave, and for some reason everyone who ownes one is friendly, if they were cheap and common they would probably be like a skyline and silvia and you wouldnt feel the same and wave excitedly out the window. and youd say oh look another 86 (sarcasitcally) i dont want one because everyone has them. and im sure if they were cheap wankers would drive them.
