personal situation -im a bit of a noob with 4ages atm but i have 2 at my work one is in a old ae82 and it has black and blue writing on the cam covers and TVIS on the intake manifold with around 260,000km and is A1.

the other one is in a ae92 and has black and red writing on the cam covers and the dizy leads are under a cover,it has around the same km but this on is A2 so might be smokey or ratly but my blan is to rebiuld it anyway.i dont know if thay are bigport or smallport??

what motor should i get to put in my ke70??

im in no rush to get this car going as my track KE70 is my main project but ill just be doing this on the side for a bit of fun.

plans for the motor are full rebiuld cams, headwork, and all that jazz.what motor would be best for powor and strength????

You're all recommending the smallport, but considering what he said he is going to do to it, Id run the bigport. The BP Head with cleaning up of the ports and some big bumpsticks is going to be better for high-up power production, and seeing as it's a full rebuild, the smallport internals are now null and void. That is, if the BP Bottom end is a 7 rib block, which I think the AE82 model is? not sure though.

Use the good BP bottom end, prep the block and crank, throw a good set of slugs and rods in there to bring the comp right up, Rebuild the head with a TRD gasket, a big set of cams (288's, 292's, or 304's if you're baller enough) some quads, good management etc and it'll make some good grunt.

you will only see the advantages of a bigport head when going like 304 11mm lift spec cams.

smallport bottem end uses oil squirters but bigport has a 700g lighter crank. its abit of a trade off

im only going off what ive read

Im going off all the info i collected when I put the new 16V into my car. It wasnt a decision I made quickly. Did you actually read my post?

I reccomended the bigport heads with BIG cams. Oil squirters are neither here nor there when you switch to aftermarket slugs IMO. And when you prep the crank (take a few kg's out of it) and add in a light F/W, it'll rev like crazy.

He's chasing power, I gave my recommendation.
