Just run a 195/60 14 on a 8? Stretch isn't all bad for sprint type racing. I plan on running 225/45 15 on a 15x8 for sprints though.

Also when T18 is done I may or may not find some way to get rego on it... So we can all street again

If you were seriously getting into sprint style racing, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to run at least a 215 on an 8 if you raised the car. My car is just on 90mm at the front of the rails and I run 205/50/15's with no rubbing at all. Raise the car and the geometry will improve massively, again helping if you're serious about times.

I'm not seriously getting into sprint racing, i want to give it a go. I'll just chuck some re001's on the rear and see how she goes.

At least then i should get some sort of benchmark? Aim for a 1:30? hahahah

If i was seriously getting into sprint racing i would have a stripped car with full rollcage, twice as many killer wasps, LSD, Bolt on guards to fit whatever the hell i want etc etc lololol

I think i found the problem...

I have been using the same distrib/leads combo for almost 5 years now.... no wonder it's never been running right!!!

Best place to get new leads? may aswell keep them TRD for the street cred points?

Rebuilt my distributor with a seal/bearing kit from kbox in Canada and new bosch cap. No more oil leaks

Bought some other shit (the TRD cap if anyone is wondering increases pressure from 13PSI to 19PSI , thus increasing the boiling point of the coolant - not that I've ever had problems with my massive Celica radiator hehe )

    Made a heat shield

Refit fresh distributor, Replaced the leads

Fit TRD 71 deg thermostat (now the thermo's only turn on after being stationary for 30 seconds or so because they are on 80 deg switch at rear of head)

Need to book it in for a minor tune-up then back out to the track!

Am constantly on the lookout for some 270ish cams as well

So it wasnt a fueling problem at all?

So took it out to Jap Nats at QR on sunday.

Had the same issue after every few runs.

It ended up being a fueling problem (as you know josh )

Regulator was restricting the flow, even adjusted to max. Bypassed, all good for the rest of the day, even with constant laps with no lines, oil hit over 110 deg!

So much fun laying down better and better runs all day

Towards the end i was entering dipper at about 120, I wish the start line was further back for more run up for turn 2 but ohwell.

    Photos:

Gave short track a go early on (wish i went back later in the arvo!)

Car now has a Cusco 7 point cage (Actually 8 point but missing the harness bar boo!)
All front deadening removed, Rear to go when i can be bothered. Rear seats and belts were removed for cage.

Made 105HP after run in and track day. "lost" 3HP but it now has a very consistent usable power band (around 100hp from 4500 to 7200)

Also, MY MUFFLER GUTS BLEW OUT LOLROFLS. They spewed out on the highway on the way home! sorry to Ant who had to dodge them baha

A couple of the photos are from a blog post:
