    Default Scammers

yes i understand that this is most proly in the wrong section. how ever i want to post it up to make youse all aware, this is wat i posted up on boostcruising and copied and pasted for here, not sure if anyone has made a thread for this kind of thing,

hey guys, me and a mate both hav our cars for sale in the sale thread, we both got a txt from a guy that goes by the name of Edward Johnson asking us to email him so we could chat about the cars, he says he is from the UK and wants to ship our cars over, i was sus wen i got the txt and the number was not anything like an aus number haha, we havnt givin him any details wen he asked for them and now he stopped emailing us back, pretty sure its a scam cause on the second email hes asked for detils on where the car is and details to transfer monis. so just putting it out there to be careful of this 'edward johnson' character, has anyone else got a txt or emails from him???

he did email me one more time sayin thanks for all the info on the cars crash history and engine history, i didnt give me any info on that and if this was legit he would hav noticed that the car doesnt run, th car is also for sale on here to see for ur selfs,

there is a few of these scams goin around on boost cruising and not sure if they hav reached any other sites yet but just putting the warning out there, ive sent him a very colourfull email sayin, in a nut shell, to bugger off

feel free to move thread to appropriate section, cheers

Why would it be a scam? I know of at least 3 AE86's that have been sent to the british isles from AU, and they pay respectable money for good ones too.

a similar thing happened to me before i bought my ae86.

i was looking at a XC falcon coupe, police interceptor just inland from port macquaire. it was listed on ebay for a rather low price, almost to good to be true. story goes that this lady was selling it as she recently moved back to the uk after her marriage spilt up and needed the cash and thus a quick sale.

things began to appear dodgy when i noticed that photos of the car showed it with different number plates front and rear... emails were exchanged, she refused to give me details about the cars location as i wanted to check it out.

be very weary of international sales where they refuse to talk over the phone!

Similar to me, how ever this bloke was in AUS.
I had my bike for sale on bikesales, he contacted me through email, seeming genuinely interested, and then saying something like 'woops, i sent you $3000 instead of $1500, can you send my $1500 back' .. "
So just keep an eye out guys and you will be sweet!
