ok,i knew the 318is is supposed to be decent, didnt know the 318 isnt twin cam so might not bother then..thanks
for bmw's the general rule is the first number is the series, the next 2 numbers are the displacement of the engine and the letters after are usually body shape. eg. 325i is a 3 series 2.5L sedan in either 2 or 4 door.
318is is twincam, 318i is single cam. all the 6 cylinder models are single cam. 318is is pretty much a german ae86.
325i is the largest 6 cylinder e30 came out with apart from tuning garage versions like alpina and hartage. most people favour the 325i and 325is (325is is just a 325i with higher trimmings. everything mechanically is the same) over the 318is. i personally prefer the 318is because its lighter.
im thinking of buying a 318is and putting my mt2 kit on it from my current e30 and selling my current e30. whether or not i get around to it is another story.
zenki and kouki, early model and late model for e30's are as this: early model = chrome bumpers and higher rear wheel arches, late model = plastic bumpers and lower rear wheel arches. appart from that its just trimmings and computers and engines. mostly though everything is the same

soo looks like im doing a tape measure spec wheel alignment.
anyone got any tip and/or tricks?
how is castor actually measured? is it an increase in mm's of wheelbase or angle of the wheel?
george cressida
for castor i used to just guesstimate it by placing a tape measure on the end of the nut of the castor rod and measuring how much thread is left. not 100% but if your not willing to pay for a wheel alignment then im sure it will do
stroked 2L ca18-ae86 in the build...eta xmas 2012?
