Nope, it is a hashed together "hobby" widely practiced by those who don't have the budget to get into a real form of motorsport.

Just because it exists and uses cars does not instantly make it a motorsport.

Take an F1, Rally, Real Tarmac DRIVER and ask them what they think about drift.
People used to start with Gokarts before moving up through the ranks.
Drift is an even lower form of racing that Gokarts.
The term "Grassroots Motorsport" could be applied very loosely if you need to Label what drift is.
