you could build a 3sgte
you havent stated how much of a budget you have so its anyones guess to what you could build...
hey guys ,i posted a thread about putting a s2k honda motor into my sprinter for gravel rallying but after reading the thread and all the talk about cutting crossmembers and affecting the front geometery i think its too much hassle.so my plan is to run in the historics or the new r2 2wd class in the ARC but i want to build a car with 300hp or more to have plenty of power to beat the huge $$$ escorts.is there a toyota engine out there that will give me the hp im looking for and be RELIABLE.

First thing that pops into my mind is the 2jz-GTE from the supra, very good and tough in stock form and if I recall correctly also able the make a reliable 300hp with stock internals!
Second thing that pops into my mind is how are you going to fit that in a sprinter...
ADM AE86 Levin
i have a healthy budget (just sold my evo rally car) ....how much would a 3sgte cost to build ...what car is that out of i dont know engine codes....
would a supra engine be really heavy i have to think of weight distrabution too.....i have already spoken to modena in melbourne and they are doing a sequential gearbox that will handle 300hp easy so just need engine suggestions and a rear axle too
If you have the money to get a sequential box, you have the money to build a turbo 4A to make a reliable 300hp.
would prefer a n/a engine...i think a turbo rwd on gravel would be tough to drive ..if i wanted to have fun and just drift up the stage maybe but i want to win rallys with this car.
forget them all. especially the 2j....
millington diamond.
an engine designed for rally, n/a producing about 300hp. yes it will cost a bit, but thats how you get a reliable 300hp.
real rally cars use millington diamonds!
allows you to do something along these lines....
edit: yes i know you said toyota engines, but i dont think its worth it. just get a wicked engine to start with.

my motors are making 190 kws at the back wheels, a std s2000 makes about 140 on the same dyno to give you an idea
karn dave.... spend the sort of coin on a beams that it would cost to get a millington, and you get a very competitive engine.
fwiw,
a copy of glenns system which is over 300hp would be in that ballpark, but i would go drysump for clearance and safety of the engine as to keep the engine low your sump would be very low.... with dry you could get the engine low enough for zero tunnell mods even with the 6 speed and still be very safely behind a sump guard.
im not sure if he is on here, but there is lad in wa who races an 86 in rally, maybe have a chat with him? gets around with username mc86? i think?
glenn is celicara45 on here and would the most useful source of realworld prices and information.
as you can tell the rest of us are mainly good at spending other peoples money
ps what sequential you going with?
