Default ke70, 4age fuel set up question

    hey guys,

just found my self a jdm 4age so picking that up next week

my question is about the fuel system i will need to run. from the reasearch ive done people use vl fuel pumps i dnt really want to use a vl fuel pump lol.

im thinking along of the lines of a surge tank with a bosch 040? will the fuel pump over power the 4age (standerd) if it wont what other parts do i need? is there any work shops in melbourne that do these sort of things?

and are there any other options? what have other people used? feedback on the different options?

    all info is greatly appreciated

Hey mate there is plenty of info if you use the search function but anyway. . .

You will need to get some bigger fuel lines as the stock ones are too small (3/8 from memory)
A Bosch 040 is a good pump to use and no it won't supply too much fuel, that's why you have a fuel reg for.
If you go down the surge tank route (good idea if you're gonna track it), you will need a lift pump to supply the surge tank (VL turbo lift pump is good and there are articles on how to install them into AE/KE) then you will also need a 040 or the like.

    Hope this helps champ

By far the best way is to spend the money and put a JDM tank in it and modify the fuel neck. The pump will be in the tank and out of site, its so much neater and you wont have fuel lines running in the cabin space

There is a Toyota camry out there that the pump bolts straight into to where the float is in the tank. Dunno wat model camry but I would assume early 90's

Just building on this topic I have a stock rwd 4age with twin 40mm mikunis in my 64 Capri. I haven't run it yet with the twin carbs but my current fuel pump makes loud ticking noises which gives me the shits. What external fuel pump will be suitable for my twin carb setup and is it silent? Also what fuel regulator can you guys recommend I use?

    Thanks in advance

The load ticking will be alot quieter wen fuel is actually running through it. But all fuel pumps make a buzzin noise. Or just try and muffle it with a towel.

Is it a Facet solid state type fuel pump?, these can be quite noisy

Yes that is right Dylan I have a Facet electric pump. I have just bought one of these carter pumps to replace it though.

Now I'm not sure how to connect the fuel return line up. Anyone have recommendations on how I can best do it with the mikuni setup I have.

use a quality holley blue or something similar to what the V8 boys run. they are almost silent, and provide the correct fuel pressure for a carby setup. I would still have a regulator in the engine bay to control that pressure tho, nothing worse than to much fuel pressure going into a bowl
