i think ill get some thing pretty close to the 104 or some thing in between the 240. i will be doing a mild head job just so the exhaust ports match the extractors and give it a polish to. maybe even get the fly wheel lighted just a little bit. pretty much just to make it a nippy engine wiht out being extreme.

the carbie has been fully reconditioned for me im not sure what he put in it. but hes a smart guy so i doubt he would of built it wrong

Don't polish the ports on the inlet side. Some of us have found that when fuel hits a mirror finish, it turns into beads and dribbles rather than smashing into a rough surface and atomising properly.

Exhaust side is fine to polish if you want... lol.

Run some Holden 202 valve springs - 4K valve springs just cannot handle high revs and you'll be losing easy power there...

You'll also gain more easy power by balancing the internals of a 4K. They really don't like being taken over 9000 RPM very often unless you have balanced them. Mine used to hit 9200'ish a couple of times a week.

But as you mentioned, the head is by far the most restrictive part of a 4K engine. I'm pretty sure that N/A even with massive porting and balancing most of the highest powered 4K engines max out at the 150-160HP (at the fly) range. Forced induction should get you over that (up to 200HP if you do it right). Theres a bloke on Rollaclub who managed to fit a 4AGE twincam head onto a 4KC - Epic swap. HEAPS of induction air flow with less restriction that the crappy K series head, with the instant benefit of quad throttle bodies & EFI wheee...

so if i get the inlet ports done, will they be smooth or can you get it done in away i guess you can call it ruff?

is there any good article that you know of about balancing and blueprinting around any where? i have been trying to research out it but haven't really come up with any thing that helped out to much.

i wish the laws weren't gay in adelaide. rather build a beast of a 7age turbo haha

Normal porting usually leaves stuff pretty rough after the burr. thats OK, the "polishing" part where it gets cleaned up to a mirror finish = not worth it.

If your pistons are out by 20 grams you have big problems, LOL

We're talking a couple of grams at most

All they do is weigh everything, and reduce the weight of all the heaviest ones down to the same weight as the lightest one...
