Finally got the release bearing Im after. You could use this straight out of the box, but I would recommend a spacer be made up to fit over the gearbox nose so the bearing is located concentrically
The release bearing on the right. It slides over the gearbox nose, no bolts needed.
The bearing sitting in place. you only need to replace one bolt with this locating pin. Pretty simple.
Once I get this mounted and tested, I will post up some results
I've actually been looking at doing this setup as well since the JDM bell wasn't going to work for me.
I already got the saab slave and bearing ordered from the UK, just need the adapter.
Definately interested in both T50 and W box adapters if it happens.
Thanks for the link Phife. The original set of images are actually of a SAAB slave. As you have worked out, they aren't cheap, and they need an adapter like the one I made. The last bearing I have pictured doesnt need an adapter, and it may be possible to fit onto a W series box, which was my initial intention. Its also considerably cheaper. I have about 4 of the SAAB bearings here, unfortunately they wont work with the W boxes.
Had a quick read of the mondeo link Phife. I have a mondeo bearing here also. It obviously fits, however, it is a bit pricey compared to the SAAB unit and both need an adaptor. I dont particularly like the idea of bolting the adaptor to the modified input sleeve, as the surface of the sleeve is as cast and not perfectly true. The reason they did this though is because the mondeo bearing, (the one I have anyway), has the oil seal built in which wont fit the toyota shaft. So they used the original toyota seal, which is in the input sleeve.
I would think it would be a better option to replace the entire input sleeve like I did with the SAAB unit on the mondeo unit. You have to machine a spacer anyway.
The Howe racing unit which I have pictured is a much easier fit, heaps cheaper, and doesn't need any machining. Although I recommend a sleeve is made up to align the bearing perfectly on the input shaft sleeve in the interest of reliability.
Im putting a 4age with t50 into a ke10 corolla. The clutch slave hits the steering and a JDM bellhousing will just make it hit the same on the other side IMO.
So im very interested to hear more about this conversion! I have sent you a PM Jimmy
if the clutch slave is in the way of steering, then it IS a jdm bell, no?

I have the same problem, both ADM and JDM clutch slave locations affect steering lock in a KE10
ahh my bad.....

I was looking at the possibility of putting a 90 degree angle plate of the lower gearbox mounts and using a long pushrod on the slave until i found this thread.
