+1 on slydar's comment. i have dealt with craig quite a few times this year and can say from personal experience that he is a top bloke to deal with and is always more than willing to help out.

Hah, I've done a few deals with Craig before too out at the airport. I'll talk to him.

Had a really good look at this over the Easter holidays at where the project was at and what still needs to be done. Amongst other things I can’t help but notice I might need an automotive plumbing expert on my side, as there’s a lot of fluid and vacuum lines that need to be sorted.

    Stuff I can do:

    • Oil catch can breather (9mm) to the intake between turbo in and pod filter (6.5mm)
    • Injector and fuse box wires to be covered with insulation tape
    • Carve out a semi-circle in the boost control valve bracket for the vacuum line to sit snugly
    • Washer bottle lines into bonnet and radio antenna
    • Put the dash back together
    • Redo solid fuel feed lines to the engine
    • Remove tailshaft, gearbox and bellhousing
    • Replace clutch cover bolts (I stupidly put ones with spring washers on them first time round)
    • Reassemble everything that remains (tidy up everything; install random carpet where needed so it doesn’t look dodgy)
    • Bleed brakes, check all fluids
    • Get engineering and RWC done, register

Stuff I need help to do:

    • Bracket to support the oil catch can breather and blow off valve release
    • Fuel pressure regulator vacuum line (I don’t know where would be good to hook it up to)
    • Brackets for the oil lines (I’ve got a remotely mounted oil filter, the lines are messy and there’s gotta be a better way to have them in there)
    • Fix lines for the turbo coolant (braided line with only hose clamped ends)
    • Bolt throttle peddle onto firewall
    • Connect up the cabin harness into the engine bay (huge plug!)
    • Install a charcoal canister for the fuel breather
    • Weld up and repair holes I’ve made in the sheet metal for various things (I think the biggest is 30mm…)
    • Install other electronics (turbo timer, boost control dash module, Microtech controller, headunit)
    • Get a sealed battery box, install it properly and find a way to vent it to the exterior
    • Get a new gearbox crossmember made up
    • Get someone to install a speedo drive from my W58 to the dash (I can do the electronics mods)
    • Identify what seats I’m going to use and get someone to help mount them, if I need to
    • Get a new gearbox crossmember made up
    • Get someone to install a speedo drive from my W58 to the dash (I can do the electronics mods)
    • Identify what seats I’m going to use and get someone to help mount them, if I need to
    • Tune Microtech

Stuff I want other peoples thoughts on (some items may need to be seen in person):

    • Blow off valve (25mm) to intake between turbo in and pod filter (16mm) (16mm too small?)
    • Check the rear motor coolant housing (I think I put it in dodgy like; want someone to check)
    • Vacuum lines from Microtech (passenger footwell, next to the door) to engine bay (where’s the best place to put it through the firewall, and where should I plug it in?)
    • Get a baffled JDM fuel tank and wire it up (some existing wiring from my old setup is in place)
    • Get advice on connecting up the EFI fuel feed lines
    • Get someone to check my custom brake lines (design and implementation more than anything)
    • Replace rear housing on gearbox with a new one that has a better shifter position
    • Make sure all systems are working and iron out any bugs that come up
    • Double check that all systems work well under heavy loads

So can anyone help with any of the above, or provide at least some guidance for some of the items?

As much as I like dealing with Craig, $400 for a fuel tank with a used pump seems a bit pricey. Might have to wait for someone to wreck out one. Where would I get a new JDM fuel pump anyway? El Goog isn't being terribly helpful.

Looks like I don't need to crimp EFI lines but using proper EFI hose clamps like should do the trick.

Does anyone have any tricks for securing hard lines? I had to make some custom brake lines for the rear after putting in my F series, but they're attached by little more than zip ties at the moment. I've got some stainless steel zip ties... is it dodgy to just have these securing the brake lines? In some places I'd still like to tack a bracket to the chassis; is this standard practice?

You're talking about the lines on the diff between the diff mounted splitter and calipers/slave cylinders, right? If so you want these:

You should be able to get some at a good fastener shop.

But you said tack to the chassis, so I'm thinking you re-routed where it didn't pass through the stock mounts?

You can also buy them from any repco - they're called 'P-clips' (or properly, pipe support clamps), they'll be in their big narva catalogue. I also suggest the same things
