Most factory ecu's have the same problem, and seriously if your alternator dies unless you are close to home the car will be on the back of a tow truck.

I personally prefer haltech sports 1000 ,microtech were good 10-15 years ago, but now are more a track ecu as they lack allot of the features of the newer ecus.

Adaptronic's actually do have battery voltage based injector dead time adjustment. Always have. It's on the corrections tab.

The E420c model, which has been in service for many years now, has just been retired. It's been pushed to do many things along the way, such as the addition of dual vvti cam control for the Beams 3SGE (back in 07), traction control, closed loop boost control and much more. Not bad for a sub $1000 ECU.

Recently, a new style ecu has been released called the E440 select. These have all the features of the 420c, just with faster processing, a nicer, more compact case, new 040/070 AMP connector (same series as smallports and 20Vs etc), an integrated 4bar map sensor, USB laptop connection and quite a few new tuning features. It even has a headphone jack for listening to engine knock. These are $1399 RRP. The good news for a lot of people on this forum is that a new entry level model has just been devised. It's to be designated E420d, and will be in the same new case with map sensor and USB connection as the E440 select. It will just be missing a couple of the features of its brother (such as flex fuel sensing for ethanol tuning) The best part is it will retain the same price point as the E420c (and E420b) did. Only $990 RRP!

All the same patch harnesses and full harnesses (like the current 20V and Beams 3SGE ones) will be available for the new model at the same pricing. Some discounting may be available for AE86DC members as well, as it has for the E420c. This is TBC.

I will have a new thread in the kaizen garage section soon with more details.

Lol I have a Haltech E6, the dinosaur of ECUs. I even have and oldschool pentium laptop with windows 3.1 to tune it! bought it for $300, but then again it is only going to
do a EFI setup on my 5k KE55.

I must be blind. I found it. The other thing I can't find is battery voltage dwell correction. Am I blind in looking for this too?

No, that one does not exist.

Doesn't really pose a problem though. Most modern ignition systems have a certain amount of inbuilt protection for this. Especially Toyota.

Yeah, I was playing with the dwell today and I could drop it 2.3ms from what it was set at before it started to misfire at idle. "She'll be right."

thanks for all the tips guys... i must say i am still quite stumped on what to go with but i definately have a better idea than i previously did... it's a toss up between the haltech platinum s1000 or microtech LT-10, i think id prefer the haltech but im considering the microtech because its a good $500-800 less from the shopping around ive been doing .. the new adaptronic sounds like it could be good aswell though..
