Default First engine start - Why does it make this noise!?

Ok so after a long awaited time, my engine finally runs in my new shell!

I had the engine running in a previous car perfectly, no problems, no noises.

The engine had been sitting around for a while.. Now it makes a high pitched squealing noise, very annoying!

The rookie question at hand is: why?

id say its a vacuum leak. does the pitch or volume change when you rev it? check over all small hoses, one could have fallen off or been over looked when installing engine

The pitch doesn't change but its not as noticeable when it is revved

Sounds like a bearing almost, waterpump or timing belt tensioner.

crickets?? .....the sound is very metallic, it seems to clean to be a bearing sound (not scratchy enough) it sounds to me like impeller blades are hitting something. its really to hard to say... get yourself a hose put in over your ear and move around the engine.. might help you isolate the source

Bingo! Looked over all the hoses tonight.. turns out it was the breather from the back of the rocker cover... One of the biggest hoses on the engine lol.

I should of double checked everything properly before resorting to a thread. I'm glad there was no problem and she is happily living once again.

    Now sounds like this:

    Sweeeeet!
