checking a std 3sge beams motor to see how far each cam moves
did the inlet 1st and im using a dial indicator sitting on the bucket preloaded
as it comes up to no 1 at TDC check to see how much the cam is at tdc then advance with spanner to see how far movement is
on the inlet it sits at 5 thou lifter rise at tdc ,then with spanner pulling cam towards the exhaust the cam now moves 250 thou
also i had to hold the crank from moving
ok exhaust this is done the same way except this time check it at tdc by going past till the cam comes off the bucket or the dial indicator stops moving
exhaust is 55 in the off position and it advance toward the inlet 150 thou
so there you have a std motor with std cams
on my race motor
the inlet is 70 on start up and advances all the way to 210 thou
exhaust is turned on 87 and off its 170
both motors are different but the race motor makes its torque later but it also finishes about 1500 rpm, after the std motor
where the std motor finishes hp at 7800 my race motor is still going on to 9000 rpm
