    Hi kids.

A log of todays progress -

Clutch was changed today. Probably the easiest clutch i've done. 6 main gearbox bolts, 4 gearbox stay bolts, starter motor off, unplug reverse switch, disconnect speedo cable, 4 gearbox crossmember bolts and BAM, gearbox out. 39 kilos of W55 on the ground.

    We found this:

Clutch disc worn down almost to the bolts, and hotspots evident in the flywheel and pressure plate, as you can clearly see even with my horrible telephotography.

Flywheel was removed, hotspots removed, rear main seal replaced.

Everything was refitted without any drama. Konakid painted the tailshaft 'because he could'. Gearbox extension housing seal was replaced. Funnily enough neither of the aforementioned seals were leaking.

However the camshaft cover gasket was. Well, i wouldn't actually call it a leak. More projectile vomiting oil into every fathomable corner of the engine bay. Seriously, the front of the motor is COVERED with it. So off came the cam cover. While it was off, i decided to paint it 'because i could'. It is painted in a super rare factory colour known as 'funky black'. Few have seen it and lived to tell the tale. Seriously.

End result was something like this -

It looks quite out of place because it is CLEAN. Should look good when the rest of the engine bay gets a once over with the high pressure gun.

The final order of business was wiring up the tachometer. Fairly straightforward, after 'un-wookiefying' the wiring. I wired it up but did not secure it, as with me being 6'3" and konakid being somewhere between 5'6" and 4'2", it's obviously not going to be in the right position for him if I did it.

I was going to get cracking on fitting the 'fully sick super dope pimping stereo' he has for it, but i was bemused by my left arm seemingly going to grasp something in front of me and bring it to my mouth. I looked at the time and it was in fact well past beer-o'clock.

    So here i sit. Enjoy.
You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?

    Yeah yeah.

    Carina surf is tight!

RCA's and Springs next week, then rear drums shoes, drums machined, new wheel cylinders, trailing bushes and driving.
