i've got a stocko Aus spec one and so far I have busted a headgasket, piston rings, and a uni joint. But the car has done over 300k klms and I do thrash the crap out of it. The stocko S series diff isn't happy if you put power through it either.
hey guys,
in my quest for learning more about hachi's with the intentions of getting one, im wondering what mechanical failuers you have had and what their weak points are.
thanks,
Emil

bloke i bort mine off had just fixed the gasket b4 i bort it, i thrashed it really hard for like a year and the 4ac spun a bearing thouhg it had been sick for a while
good ol days u'se to rev that thing to like 7500 rpm everyday lol
harmonic balancer/ timing gear key way has been known to be a weekness and has given me some issues in the past. Also the s series diffs are a bit weak, gear boxes give the most trouble with syncro's you just gotta learn how to drive them to stay out of trouble. Well thats been all my issues with mine.
Only problem I have had so far is the cam seals split (4age)
Cheers
Blown up 1st engine,
2nd engine, 4ac
severe tappet noise
oil leaking from dizzy, rear main, cam cover
carb running rich - no adj left
S series diff whining and leaking from left shaft
All after one drift day at wakefield![]()
have warped the head on the 4AC before dropping in the 4AGE blue top, the blue top cops a floggin at the track and doesnt even overheat or use oil. BUT
i think thier biggest weakness is the standard S series diff when locked, i have muched two of them.
my good mate (not on these forums) has blown the folowing
- 3 4AC motors before doin a 20 V transplant.
- 3 T-50 gearboxes
- 1 tailshaft
- 1 T18 diff
- 2 S series diffs and soon to be another one.
i put all that down to his driving style, but he is changing after 1 visit to the track.
clutch master and slave cylinders, especially if you have a 4ag and aus bellhousing.
i have had my car for about 15 months and have not had any major mechanical problems with my 4age. its great
ToySprinta...whoa
i'll second that!!!..
