Hey fella's, the horn in my car came not working and seeing as i probly need it to work to be registered i decided to take apart the steering wheel bit.

unfortunately i only got this far:

i have removed the steering wheel and the nut that is inside the wheel adapter, however i have no idea how to contioue to take the adapter off from there.

Does anyone know what i have to do to get that off?
The wheel is a momo sport wheel. When i took the horn buttone off the wiring that was connected to the button wasnt connected further on as you can see here:

Does that mean that wiring is fuked? or can it just be reattached to the connection to the horn?

any help would be greatly appreciated

    thanks

    Grant

bolt the steering wheel back onto adaptor, put the bolt back on 1 or 2 turns, and tap the steering wheel backwards off the shaft, sometimes needs a bit of force.
Make sure you leave the bolt on, i've been stupid enough to cop a steering wheel in the face twice now

so what... the adapter should just pull off? is that what your saying?

and matticus, thanks, but the wire connected to the horn button looks as if its been cut or something... so i dont think it will just plug in

heres what the horn button looks like close up:

    yep, will just pop off.
The adptor just slides onto the splines you see and the bolt holds it on.

Toy sprinta is saying just put the big centre nut on a turn or two, so hen the wheel comes loose, it doesnt come all the way off and smakc you in the head. You sometimes have to give it a real heave to get it off. If you have a bearing puller of some sort, you can use that, it will make it much easier.

PS, Toy Sprinta, once is an accident, twice is forgetfull, if you do it a third time, you got probs buddy Just kidding.

ok, stratch what i last said on this post.

I have managed to get the adapter off... with an extreme amount of pulling, however, i now have what you see in the attached picture

my guess would be that the button that i have circled in red is the horn button for the main steering wheel, however, this doesnt make the horn work.

What do you think i should do...

The connection for the horn could be completely focked... or it could be that something is not connected somewhere along the line.

Is there anything you guys can recommend that i can do to get the horn working? or should i just get an auto electrician to get it working? Obviously id like to spare the expense if possible, but im not gonna take apart the whole dash to find a loose connection in a wire

plus i really dont know much about electronics

thanks for all your help so far people

Basically what your horn button does is connect the horn -ve to ground (ie the steering shaft). To test weather everything still works, get a short peice of wire and touch it onto that bit circled in red in your pic, and the shaft. the horn should then go off.
