if your thinking of using it for your sprinter, it's pretty easy..there is a section of rubber fuel hose from the tank to the steel line..mount it in there, with a plastic fuel filter (normal inline carby fuel fliter) BEFORE the pump (this stops all that sludgey crap from the bottom of your 20+ yr old tank, also protect your pumps warrenty), join anything before the fuel pump with new fuel hose, and new good quality hose clamps, then anything after the fuel pump with EFI fuel hose..even if it is only 2 " long..you must use EFI fuel hose..mount the pump with a bracket from a coil..make sure you use plenty of rubber/foam insulation around the pump and bracket so you don't get much noise..connect up the wires to your existing pump wires..and your set!

Ive heard that the vl fuel pumps arent that good, but so many people use them? How can this be......

The main problem seems to be the sucking off air when the tank is low...

Im running a Nissan Skyline / Pintara fuel pump w/ surge tank.......

Are the Vl Turbo & Skyline pumps the same? Do they come standard with a surge tank?.........

This is because of fuel surge, which has nothing to do with the pump.

a VL pump and a VL turbo pump are the same pump, i think one fitting is different..the reason why people use them is there everywhere, and there a pretty much universal inline pump..

i'm using a walbro 255 intank pump in mine..which bolts into all the right places it's a universal type pump, that sits in the factory efi sender/float assy..this pump is an upgrade for the VL's so it's good, and alot of people recomend them over the VL pumps..one of these retails brand new from autobarn, no discount of any kind for about $215 or so..

my external pump is now sucking air into it and making annoying noise even if the tank is full, not sure what the problem is..

is it caused by my rubber fuel hose too long? or I mount the fuel pump so high (my pump is about the same position of the panhard rod).

what you should do is get a 4" round piece of exhaust tube about 2-3" tall..and get a 10MM drill bit and spot weld it to the bottom of the tank where the pick up is..vola! a baffel! sit the fuel pick up in there..thats how i would do it if i didn't have a JDM 86 anyway...

yeah get a universal elec pump feed it into a filter then intoa surge tank then to a vl pump into a efi filter use a ae92 and then to your injector rail/ pipe etc. but yeah after efi pump use efi hose and clamps, before you can just get away with norm fuel line and universal clamps
