hey, my engine in the ae71 corolla i have is to say the least... really crap.
it really doesnt seem to rev well. after 4000rpm it starts slowing down and when it hits 4500rpm it acts like it hits a limiter or something. ( the revs just bounce down and it makes popping noises like what would be heard on a car with a limiter).
drft86 and i have been playing with the air/fuel mix in the carby a bit. Our guess was that its just been running really lean. The little glass thing on the side of the carby shows that there is less than half fuel running through, this was showing even after we cranked the air fuel mix up. and the car still ran the same (might have revd a little better but still did the same things).
I was talking to ken streeter yesterday as well, and he was saying to me he doesnt know much about the carby's on these corrola's.
Does that mean that the aus 4ac's in the corolla's and in the sprinters are different? if so how are they?
i know my car should be running better cause my mates old 4ac from the sprinter reved to like 7000rpm daily for a year and a half.
anyway, can anyone tell me what i need to be done to fix this engine? i do plan to put a 4age in sometime, but i untill then i do want to use this engine. and considering it would seem like most of my power is being made at 3500rpm... well im sure alot of you couldnt bear to be shifting that amount of revs when pushing your car![]()
cheers
