    Hey all

My friends uncle's sprinter got written off, after some lady didnt brake at a round-about. The sprinter got hit passenger side, rear wheel snapped off and the whole gone. The car still runs on 3 wheels so the engine (4ac) is good

The car is insured with NRMA third party only.So after the accident NRMA is chasing the Lady of the other vechile for the pay out.

Just wondering does NRMA have the right to the written off sprinter?? cause its only third part insurance. Im hoping to get the sprinter off the owner, instead of paying NRMA for the car.

    Any help will be great.

    Thanks

    RaY

*If* the car is written off they might give you the option (and a price) to buy the wreck back.

Sometimes they don't. Depends on the insurer. make a phonecall... they will clear it up for you.

most of the time they will tell the owner how much the wreck is worth and give him/her the option to sell it to them... well thats what happened to me when my bike got written off

and in qld and i'm pretty sure there are different calsses of write offs. my bike was fixable written off and i could get it re-registered

i don't know... just ring them

there's repairable and statutory write offs in Qld.
repairable can be re-registered and statutory can't

there are no insurance companies that sell vehicles direct to the public anymore if the car is written off it will be sold at a public auction or the like!

    Live in Sydney.

Think its a statutory write off, as the force from the impact carried throught to the other side (driver was ok). So far all the glass is good, front of the car is good, just hopefully i can get it soon...i need parts

Probly have to get the owner to buy it back from NRMA, after everything is cleared up

Hopefully i will be selling some sprinter parts later

    Thanks all for the help.

PS: No pics of the sprinter, but i'll leave it up to the imagination.

the market value of a hachi is not much at all... seems the insurance companies havent been watching initial D at all...

Shannons would insure my car for $9k because of agreed value....
but Just Car wouldnt go beyond $3.5k cause market value is only $2750 and they gave me the extra cause it has a brand new paint job...
    I started the ball rolling...
