picked up an oil cooler from the wreckers today, planning to fit tit to my 20v silvertop, two questions- what should i use to flush the core out with, and does anyone know who to contact about buying one of those sandwich adaptor plate things that screw on in front of your oil filter.
    thanks

you should be able to get them from repco, well they could quote me on what i needed

but don't you want a full flow oil cooler with the relocated oil filter, thermostat and high flow cooler core not just a sandwich plate ...... but better than nothing

I was running a generic sandwitch plate (from repco, same as CA18DET and SR20DET) with a core from a... something (AE92 or EA Falcon) but I got told that the 20v's thrive on really high oil pressure, and that the pressure drop would be to great, esp because the VVT (VVT-i for me ) runs on oil pressure.
Tell me how you guys go

i'd clean it with carby cleaner and an air compresser i'm actually using a bent bit of pipe for my cooler..bent in an E shape..not pressure loss, and well, it's better than nothing!! simillar to a pwr steer or auto trans cooler on a falcadore..

i heard the same thing as 20v monster. but i think it was you can't use the 16v sandwich plate, it bolts on fine but it isn't a full flow or thermostat plate its reserve pressure or something like that which affects your vvt. you should be able to use a thermostat one or full flow one as long as the core doesn't drop the pressure heaps you should be alright.

yeah i looked into it a while ago, apparently the black tops experience trouble when fitting oil coolers but silver tops dont usually have a drama, so the ones from repco does the sandwich thing have a thermostat inside or is that something else
