correct, it will not last forever, nothing will once u treble the horsepower, if your spending the money on a turbo'd engine then spend it on the rest of the driveline aswell

Hey these are the spider gears not the crown wheel (the crown wheel is the bigun bolted to the diff casing)

What your mate has done there is essentially made himself a detroit locker, I don't know how common that is in the 4wd scene but I have never seen it like that before, looks pretty cool.
What it will do is differentiate for a very little bit before it locks up totally. I'm not too sure if that would be so good for the drifting crowd as on bitumen it would be really clunky and the impact loading on all the other components in the driveline might make things like axles break quicker.

its simple to just go with a weldie setup just pull out the centre and poke a welder in the little holes where the spider gears are.

    Hey guys,
Iv started the mission to lock my s-series, its starting to give me the shits as i have little tech knowlegde, so far iv:
    1. pulled the rear diff/axles completly out of the car
    2. removed the drum caps and pads.
    3. undone the bolts on the front face of the diff

Now i understand ill need to pull out the axles to removed the center of the diff, so i undid the four 14mm bolts on the plate around the axle under where the pads where but now the whole drum is free and i still cant pull the axles out,
Question time, is there anything else that fixes the axle or is it just old and tough to pull out?
    thanks

thatd be the old and tough axle pull out hmm. Bet they havent been removed befor?

Anyway, just reverse the drums and use that as a crude lide hammer on the wheel studs. Should come free after a bit of a workout

Oh yair, make sure youve drained it

Thanks mate it was accutaly an broken axle bearing that had jammed it up.
s-series are the gay shit to lock, mine only lasted 5 corners and i totally welded the top removable spider gear to the crown wheel. And all the welds have to be grinded up flush or the casing bracket wont sit back flat. Hardest centre to weld up ever.
Everyone at the workshop it 100% baffled at how it could of broken it was the cleanest job, Will pull it back apart on Monday an give a full diagnoses. I also have another s-series centre so will be learning from our mistakes an ill post the best way to lock it up.
