    hi all,

i have asked this question on 3 forums and never got a straight answer.

what do i have to mod on a 86 to get konig unknowns on 17x7 or 7.5 (cant quite remember) obviously the car will be needing to be converted to 5 stud.

    any help would be appreciated

    cheers,
    stefan

are you asking what is needed to get the car to a 5 stud?

other than that all i can see that might be in your way is the clearance of your guards and maybe it'll hit your shocks.

    Oh god :s

You'll have to do some significant mods/upgrades to get the car from 4 stud to 5 stud. This will cost you crap loads of cash.

Depending on the offset of the wheels, you may need to roll or flare your guards.

On another note, 17's on a hachi will 1. look ghey, 2. decrease the cars handling.

    My advice: GET NEW WHEELS!

arent 86s suppose to be a budget drifter?

just get 14s... tyres are cheaper than 17s

the bigger the rim the smaller the tyre wall therefore less movement under force, so the bigger the sidewalls the weaker they r (i think its called side-flex?? unsure) also the bigger the rim the heaver the mag is so some times the feel of the car becomes different. thats why people put smaller width tyres on wider rims to help stretch out the side wall to reduce flexing.

    also

a mate with a s14 put 17" or bigger (chromies) on his car, and the car felt sluggish (acceleration) when compared to the stock wheels because im guessing the were a heavier tyre package and had more grip, so therefore reducing the ammount of slip during take off. if im worng plz correct me

    Sure! that looks hot!

A mate of mine has wheels that look like that. He stretched i think some 205 or 215/45/17s on a 9.5" wide rim.

Using bigger diameter wheels also changes the overall rolling diameter.

Eg. running 195/50 tyres on a 15" rim has a smaller diameter than 215/45 tyres on a 17" rim.

If you have some 15s and 16s with decent profile tyres, try them both on your hachi...you will find that the 15s are better
