I just got failed for roadworthy (suprise suprise) and the guy is really pedantic. Some of the things hes got down are:
Vent on bonnet needs securing - one screw isnt in but the vent is held in fine.
Chip on windscreen - 2 cracks about 3mm long going less than halfway thru the glass.
Needs timing cover (for saftey) - I dont think ive seen a 4age with a timing cover on
.
It doesnt idle smoothly - cams will do that to a car...
Theres 33 things on the list, some of them I think are reasonable, some overlookable and some just stupid. In the roadworthy guys words "It has to drive like a regular car, not a racing car" and also "Are you sure you want to put this thing back on the road?".
So does anyone know anyone who might be a bit more sympathetic to getting a 33 year old car on the road in the sunshine coast area? PM me if you do.
BTW I havent done any proper driving in the car but just getting it to the roadworthy place and home (60-40 kph zones all the way) it feels totally different to any car ive driven before. With the low height it feels like a big go kart but its hard to say how itll handle till I take it on some decent roads, when and if it gets roadworthied.
