    Sure is!

It runs on the same principle that carbon fibre shatters and splits, not crumples.

Also .. now dont quote me on this, people who jack up the back on there bonnet for that 'extra cooling' can get defected, because if they were to have an accident the bonnet is jacked up, there for smashing through the wind screen and possibly decapitating the driver/passanger.

dont quote me on that one though .. i only heard it on the grape vine.

Well You are allowed to have fibre glass bonnet with a carbon skin. thats why you make sure the hooks are used in your bonnet, you know the one that is next to the bonnet hinge. They are there to stop the bonnet from going through the widshield.

I think if you hit some one with a car the chance of them surviving with or with out a fibreglass bonnet is extremely slim.

BMW 318i, Mazda MX5, Mazda Familia, Toyota Levin GTV (miss it), AE71, AE92 corolla x 2, Honda Integra Type R DC2 (awesome car),
Mitsubishi Evo 8 MR (Missing it)

    Current Car:
    2013 Hilux SR5 (turning it into a off-road warrior)
I am looking for a track only car..... Thinking of an AE86 to use.

Plus there are cars that come out of the factory with carbon parts and panels. Like the 1997 GT falcon, most of the bodykit on that is fibreglass.

And not that we can afford these cars but ferraris, porches, and lotus, have carbon on alot of their body work.

If the Tax on carbon bonnets and fibreglass guards are a few hundred percent... like cigrettes... the government would legalise them in a week...and come up with many different stories and advertising campain on how these items make the car more fuel efficient and handle better increasing safety...
The main reason is that atm the government is making more money and creating more jobs from defecting vehicles and having u to get it inspected (another fee)... its just the way of the world mate.... Not everything has to have a logical reason... as long as it benefits the ruling body... ie Transport minister and the other state transport departments...

My bonnet is jacked up at the back quite a bit and I've never had any problems. I heard the reason the police gave was because if there an oil/coolant pipe bursting under there then it would splash up all over the windscreen.
