Thread: help my front sus dilemma

    ok. i screwed up i think.....
    I think that i am using to many different parts from different cars in the setup of my front sus.
    ATM i have-

    ST141 struts ready for coilover sleeves
    s14 callipers and discs
    RA60 front hubs
    AE86 LCA
    I already have the hub machined down and disc redrilled, along with spacers provided by cruzida (thanks man) so i can use the callipers and discs

    Problem is as follows.....
    1- ST141 strut wont go on steering arm, bolt spacings incorrect! Ι was going to use the XT130 lower control arm to allow for some more camber.....I heard its good for AE86. Will the strut bolt to the steering arm of an XT130? Both being coronas and all....
    2- if i use this steering arm, what will the lock be like? is the arm shorter? longer?
    If i can get away with using this LCA and steering arm then im all done and it can go together!
    3- If i use this setup, what will i do for RCA? cause its going to be low and all. Custom made ones?

    I read through the tech article in the tech section and it provides some good info, but i need to know bout the strut to steering arm problem!

    Thanks for all the help....ive kinda already decided that im using the current strut so changing it now will annoy me too much.

    any help or advice would be great!

    You've got me confused but use ST141 steering arms. I'm pretty sure the AE86 steering arms compatible with anything else.

    Yeah should be fine using XT130 LCA's on ST141 struts. Put it this way, I've read about people using XT130 struts on KE70 LCA's and others using ST141 struts on the KE70 LCA's as well. If they both fit a common thing, then they must be the same?

    Sprinter, I think was the shortest arm available. KE70 wasn't much longer but different bolt spacing.

    Look at
    GX60, ST141, RA65, KE70 (opposite side).
    How does the AE86 compare to that?

    RCA's, I guess so, will have to be custom made.

    xt130 wont fit i dont think...

    but ra60/st141/most other larger toyota ones will. but then you should change your ball joint as the taper is differant.

    as for lock, the shorter they are, the more you will get. so just compare them. you allso want the rack end to sit basically as close to the disc as possible, for better ackerman's angle.

    Hmm interesting brake setup you got. Im in the middle of making ra60 rotors fir stock hubs but machining the hubs?? Now theres a good idea but it sorta kills the piont of my conversion anyway.

    AFAIK, use the ST141 steering arms, while it may not give much lock it beats not having the shit all bolted in.

    Makes sense to use the arms that the struts came off dont it
