HA! 3k for a black spray job, that's cheap shit if they're gonna do the whole car.

You'll get it for under 2k if you prep the WHOLE car yourself and if you smooth all the inperfections in the body, cause they will all show up 4 times worse than they look on whatever colour you have now. But even then, probably under 1500. Depending on who you go to, but the most time consuming and money consuming bit is smoothing inperfections and prepping the car, so yeah, just warning you, prep all fo what you can and it'll make it alot quicker to get done and it'll be a better paint finish.

Yeh is a lot, But its like Dish posted if you do all the prep work yourself you can get it cheeper but the results may not be as good as a pro doing all the prep work.

You don't have to do ALL the prep. Get it back to just above bare metal or even bare metal the day before you take it to get painted and that saved alot of trouble for the painter. He will just bog and fill any inperfections then prime it and check for inperfections and the like again.

I'd do all the smaller harder to get to with a big sander spots. Still sand doors and roof etc. But the smaller spots will be hard to get to with the big sander/buffer type thing.
