It appears that the cam wheel has a small hole in it which needs to be lined up with the cam. Me thinks its a locking pin.

And if you havent mucked around with the crank pully, just turn the crank till the notch on the pully lines up with the 0 on the timing marks.

You could also remove n# 1 spark plug and install a long piece of skinny wood or metal and turn crank till you find the top of n# 1 cycle.

    Cheers

It was my boyfriend fixing it for me.. He mainly just wanted to know if it had to be all the way up.. He sat there trying to come up with excuses to not start it while I was there in case it was wrong, I think he thought he would die if it stuffed up.. It worked but so he jumped around and screamed I was right I was right for a while and now my jacket is all greasy.

Thanks for looking that us for us but, much appreciated.

Ah we checked it last night and the timing is perfect now. I just realised I have a hole in my water pump though so getting one of those today.
