Me wanting to have everything legal and proper on the sprinter put in an application
for vechicle mod to DPI and now it looks like everything I have on the car will
need to be engineered. This is what they want engineer

    1. 4AGZE
    2. The diff eventhough i clearly state that its from JAP model of the same car.
    3. The disc brake ( I think might have to do that 35-0 handbrake test thing)
    4. The quick rack
    5. The speedo need to be recalibrated
    6. Also they think that a 195/50/15 tyre might not have the load carrying capacity for the car I'm pretty sure I've seen ford and holden use the same profile tyre.

I can understand if they want the engine engineered but not the diff i mean it from the same model car and it is a straight swap ie use the original mount and everything don't know whats going on there???.

Anyway hopefully it will pass everthing and I will finally be able to enjoy the car without any worries.

Anyone here got their car engineered lately? what do you have to do for your car?

This sort of thing varies alot depending on which state you are in, which engineer you are using and who you know. You've taken the right step of talking to an engineer to get your facts straight.

And as for the diff coming from the Jap version of the car, that really doesn't matter, it never came in a Sprinter in AUSTRALIA, so they have no evidence it is safe for Australia. Can I bring some old Trabants over from the former USSR and claim "but they were legal over there" when I get reamed?

What do they want you to run?

Hen, so what you're saying is, I can have my T-18 diff in my car without having it engineered because it was released in Australia?

it wasn't released in OZ with one, so it needs an engineering cert

if your car personally didn't carry any of the above major parts.. then it needs to be plated.. doesn't matter what the Jap ones had/have etc.. your car is an ADM sprinter, and in australia there 4ac, s series diff with drums.. etc etc.. anything major you change, needs to pass engineering..
