I am a new 86 owner and have a few issues with my car, just not sure what the best approach is.
I've been getting rattling sounds when I accelerate when under 2700-3000rpm, over sounds fine...
I've been told this could be 'pinging'.. I was going to take this to a mechanic to look at and they are telling me to do a major service and tune up. How long can I leave it until servicing this issue? I think it was 6 months since its last major service. Guy on the forums told me its timing issue and that it needs to be retarded.. asap?
Also there is a strong fuel smell coming from the car and it seems to be getting stronger.. Its a 4AC so is this normal?
It it worth paying $300-$360 for a major service on these old cars? Or should i only ask to get the rattling/fuel checked out?
Are Ultratune any good?
