Thread: removing strut top nuts..

    wana bolt my strut brace on and cant loosen any of the nuts on the strut tops.... only succeded in stripping a few some what...
    so far used, socket, spanner, big ass multi-grips.. with no success, even bashed the nuts with chisel/screwdriver ect...

    how-tf do I get them off.....

    do I have to weld a bigger nut on or something jus to remove em, then replace the nuts....

    spray a crap load of CRC on them let them sit for a few minutes then get a single hex socket onto the nut then big breaker bar and crack them that is unless u have stuffed the actual nut completelythen im out of ideas. probably the weld bit just make sure u get no splatter on your car

    We use a rattle gun at work, could try the welding I supose, but rattle gun on a decent nut is the best bet.

    Also, you are trying to turn the nuts anti-clockwise aren't you?

    i got mine off with a socket and a socket wrench.. they should only be torqued to like 40ft-lb anyway

    I did this on my 180. I tried everything and in then the end I went to the hardware store adn bought a grinder, ground the nuts off and then threw my struts in the creek.

    12mm spanner and hand? what the hell is wrong with your car if you can;t get the nuts off?

    ohhhh have you tired to use a break a bar
    and spray CRC.
    dat always works for me

    i have this problem everytime i go to take those nuts off. at least one does not come off, just strips. usually i put a slightly smaller imperial socket on and use a hammer to smash it on, it makes its own grooves

    but last time i had to use a file to file one of them off.

    stupid things
