hi guys .
helping a mate out on this one .. we have got most of what is required to fit the w58 onto a 4age ... i remember there was thread on the old forum ( dont know why they werent archived.. so much useful info on it..but i digress )
anyways... i need to know which shifter on the w58 will come out in the stock position or close to it in a ae86.
2nd from the left. From an RA60/65 Celica. Or so I am lead to believe.
Steel plate version (JZA80 supra) lines up well..... Hard to come across though
RA60 is w57, has the left shifter position (most forward). I'm almost certain it will hit the front of the shifter penetration.
Not sure on ra65 shifter possie.
um..... i asked peps auto and they said i have to get one from toyota,,,,, i think i have to try wreckers
If you get a transmission, regardless of which location the shifter is in, CRS offer a change-over service for the shifter housing/selector for $60 inc postage.
I have the rearmost location and it comes out right at the back of the shifter penetration. I am running 3sgte though.... postition may differ a little for
4age.
I pushed the engine back as far as i possible could without altering the firewall but the bell housing has been machined etc.
Anyway, that's the easiest way to get the location you want. CRS.
i have 2nd from left and sits too far back, bit of hole grinding modded gbox boot and all to fit but not origional id have to say 2nd from right would be correct depending on shifter bend and style.
just for the info there is another position, i bought a w56 i think from a 2004 model hilux and it sits further foward than the left one prety much in-between the front bolts
AE86 THE BEST
any one got pics?
2nd from right is the same as my steel plate w58, and the previous steel plate w58 i had behind my 20v
the 2nd from right sits right at the back of the shifter hole and that was sitting behind a 20v on stock ae86 mounts so this is useable
far left is a w55 from a ra60, this will be too far forward for your application providing your using a 4age in stock position as i just had one of theese behind my 3sge thats mounted 40mm further back than usuall and it sat right in the middle of the shifter hole
i say 2nd from left is your best bet, i think that will get it sitting just right
my w57 from a ga61 is the second from the left pictured.
should be the right one for a conversion into an 86/70.
