    Thumbs down

    hey tech heads,
Over the weekend a strut came off the Lower control arm, at first i though that i didnt tighten the bolts enough and they had just fallen out. Apon further inspection today, after i got new bolts i found that the front bolt had broken and still remains in the strut and the thread on the rear bolt shredded with the increased pressure. Could this have anything to do with running corona LCA's, therfore does the camber place more strain on the bolts. I should also note that im not running roll centre adjusters.

Now that i have to drill out the bolt, redrill and tap the strut im after advise on alternatives and mainly s13 struts/coilover setup. Im familar with s13 coilovers and im not sure how the bracket they use to bolt up to the hub can be adjutsted to sit in the sleave of the corona lca. Or do most people retain the s13 hub/disc/calipers and therefore how do u adapt that to the lca and steering arm?

Thanks for all help, also a picture of an adapted s13 setup would be greatly appreiciated

You need to keep the S13 hub/stub axle/brake/steering arm. The steering arm is built into the stub axle.

You will need to be creative with LCAs or make a custom one.

If your current strut is damaged I'd recommend throwing it away your and finding a replacement. Don't bother bodging a retapped thread.

sounds to me like you buggered it when installing it, cross threaded, undertightened or overtightened. bolts liek this are pretty sturdy, and the knuckle to strut joint is held in place by dowel pins, the bolts are just there to stop it falling off more or less.

Basicly due to putting too much torque on the nut and bolt. Has caused the bolt to stretch a bit, weakening it. Thats why bolts have touque rate. So that you know how much straine you can put them under before this happens.

    I think thats wright isn't it guy's?

try nissansilvia.com for the brakes n coilovers...
i got a brand new front pair only from ISC coilovers with camber tops for 700 posted!
also with the brakes theres plenty of s13 sr20det setups as most silvia guys upgrade to 5 stud... i got hubs, calipers, machined discs, n spindles for 350 delivered from 'garage13'
ps the spindles are what the coliover, calipers n tie rods bolt to n attaces it all to the lca.... ps im using sigma lca's n looks to be fine, just not yet completed.
    cheers
