Hey guys just had a few questions i was hoping i could get some feedback on as i have recently bought a hachi.

    1. I had a pair of solex locks thrown in with the car as the locks were stuffed from screwdriver abuse, i have heard both good and bad about these locks and i was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. what other options do i have?

    2. The seals all around my windows are really quite stuffed. Is there any seal kits around for hachis or would i have to take it to Obrien glass or something?

    3. How much would a 4AGE smallport engine be with the wiring loom etc?

Ne help would be much appreciated as i am new to these cars.

    Cheers, Brocko.

I have solex locks on my ae86 for the same reason as you. They fit on pretty well and are a breeze to install. The problem i have with is that sometimes i can't really tell if the car is locked or not by pulling the handle. But i think i will get around that by getting keyless entry installed. The main reason i have them is cause i'v had several people try and get into my car with a screw driver. .........Then again i could just move to a better place.

basically if someone wants to get in... they will get in.. solex locks or not.. the best way to stop the theft, is to get the most rediculously loud sounding car alarm in the world.. and a good immobiliser, make things as difficult as you can for the eledged to get away with it.. make sure you wake the whole neighbourhood when someone opens a door or tries to hot wire it.. make sure the battery is difficult to easily disconnect, and make sure you put the horn/sirens in the hardest inaccessible places.. use 3 or 4 of them if you want..

but i can't strees it.. if somone wants in.. they'll get in.. it's just a matter of slowing them..

Yep Matty is right, if people want it bad enough they will get it. A good alarm/immobiliser combination is a must. Solex locks are an option because your current locks are stuffed but really, if they want in they can just break the window.

you can get deadlocks that prevent anyone from getting the door open... meaning if they wanna get in/take shit out then they have go through the window...... I wana get these in my 86 but I havent seen them for sale for a long time....

I've got an immobiliser, gonna relocate it and maybe immobilise the fuel pump also just incase.

And it isn't hard to get solex open, some needle nose pliers will do it Or if you don't mount them properly, screwdriver around and you can rip the fuckers straight out.
