what if if u use ae86 front struts in sted?
I am looking to improve the handling of my new KE70 daily......I have previously fitted ae86 front struts and fitted SW20 MR2 inserts into them. BUT the KE70 strut is a smaller diameter.
Does anyone know of shock inserts that have the same or similar specs as the SW20 items, but with a smaller diameter?
Please give all options and as much info on specs as possible.
Cheers
Nico

The whole idea is to avoid that, they are difficult to find cheap, and the SW20 shocks are not cheap either.
Being that this is purely a little daily runaround, i am trying to minimise cost.
un fortunately there is not much in the way of decnet aftermarket shocks to fit KE70, springs either for that matter.
there is a koni adjustable, externally adjustable. not listed under KE70 though they had to measure them up and fit a spacer so i don't know what they were meant for originally. not short stroke either.
if it's just a daily you may have to look at pedders and lovells etc. yuk
ra60 front struts with ke70 tops and sigma/ra40 lca's?

As mentioned, Really not looking to change my strut/<CA combination, it is purely a daily driver that i wanna have a bit of a thrash around in.
I have my track only drift car if i want REAL handling.
Looks like i will have to check the listings in the catalogues and figure something out.
If i remember to, i will post in here the results.
Keeping it pretty simple at this stage. Falcon king springs and HQ or Sirerra rear shocks, And Falcon king springs and whatever i find for the front.
Perhaps someone can confirm........are the spring base on the KE struts the same diamter as the AE86 items? (Hope fully they are so i can run the falcon springs in the front too)
rears are the same from 86 to 70. but fronts have a smaller diameter spring perch.
DOH!!!!!!!!! looks like i will have to find another option for springs too.![]()
try mk1 golf maybe? theyre pretty small diamtre and short. youll need a spacer. *shrugs*.
munroe has a downloadable pdf online and you can x referance everything.
then go buy KYBbut the dimensions will all be the same.
why does it have to be short stroke? if its justa daily i wouldnt worry. how low does your daily really need to be?
78's
I am not one to have it riding on bump stops.......but i am a massive fan of captive springs and a stiff ride.
Basically, i am trying to re-create the handling i had in the little black AE71 i had not to long ago (You may remember it from QR ) but it had the AE86 front struts.
For the sake of a bit of research, i figure i will hopefully be able to find something in a shorter stroke for the same sort of cash as the stocko items.
