Ok folks,
I am new here to these boards and also not a local boy (from the UK) so a few of your terms and words that you discribe parts are new to me as in the UK, we only ever had ae86 with a 4age and lsd in the rear axel etc.
but my question is this.
I have a JDM 1983 ae86 GTV. It has a drum rear axel, and I am not sure what diff it has as I have not drove it/took apart the diff.
now, if I used a 4agze and kept the T50 box and the std rear axel, will it last?? and I dont plan to mod the 4agze just keep it std.
you see last year I had a 4agze Trueno (JDM Black Limited import with alot of mods) and everyone says that the car will eat the halfshafts of the rear axel etc, and that the early type (Zenki) axel are no good for higer tourqe and at the least need the later rear axel (Kouki) instead?
cheers, any advice on this will be good info for me.
cheers

i broke a few pairs of axles in mine when it was GZE'd... and it was relitivle stock... it sorta twists the spline a bit.. then sheers them off.. it will break axles.. even with the Kouki diff... there not all that much bigger and it doesn't make a terrible amount of difference.. you will get a away with it, and the T-50 box... just don't go flat changing.. chearping the tyres, dropping the clutch, side stepping the clutch in the middle of drifting etc.. basically all the fun stuff.. jut try and be gentle on it.. you might also break Crown wheel and pinions.. i did 2 sets..
Never had a problem with axles, but iv broken t-50s and a pinion, but i do bout everything matty mentioned. If you can drive sedately it will certainly last.
