Interesting question indeed. Umm, torque is good, power is better. If you have torque to get the drift started (4AGZE here as an example), you still need the power to spin the wheels and hold the slide. If you look at Tony Harrisons V8, this is a perfect example of this. No need for handbrake, just big scando flick and then put your foot down. Torque is important from the start...then you need the power to take over, the closer the two are in the rev range, the less exciting the car will be to drive because all you will be doing is grabbing another gear.
