Yeah mbah is not a bad place at all... i live about 15 minutes away from it.
The beach there is beautiful albeit a little crowded during summer. The car scene is up on thursday night, and sunday afternoon, but generally there's heaps of cops around.
Best clubs are fridays near underwaterworld and probably 240v or something.

Okay well the best places to take the GF are probably the point cartwrite lookout, in which you head down to kawana and then jsut before the shopping center there, take a left, and head all the way up point cartwrite drive all the way to the end... and then walk up to the lighthouse.... BEST views on the whole of the sunny coast. Especially at sunset. Real pretty.
Also, Cotton tree beach is quite nice, its really deep... as in... theres like 80m of sand before the actual water, and at night is pretty too.

Along the main esplinade (however you spell it) theres Omalleys - an irish pub, 240v - a niteclub, a couple of bars I dont know the names of and some other niteclubish place ive never been to, all within like 100m of each other. Fridays - a bar downstairs, niteclub upstairs is maybe 100m walk from the end of the esplinade. There are also quite a few other places spread around.
