after leaving my car at a mates place for a few hours while i drove his car i get into the car to drive home and it was extremely difficult to put into gear as well as the clutch being very sticky (i think i can figure that one out my self as being the clutch cable is snaged somewhere)

but wtf is going on with the gears being very difficult to change? i turned the car off and the gears changed like normal so i could put it into first to take off.

any help as to why this could happen would be most appreciated

    thanks in advance

    cheers,

    stefan

check your clutch line n see if they're leaking..if the clutch slave is leaking it should be wet..if the master is leaking, the area just below the mounting nuts on the firewall wil be wet.. if they look fine, bleed it and make sure u got fluid in the resevoir.try these 1st n see how it goes..hope this helps u..im not a champion but ive had enough problems with my clutch master n slave

yep try all the above and if you still cant find the problem try replacing the flexible line that goes to the slave, they get affected by extractors very easily.

If the cylinders are leaking, you can get seal kits for $16 bucks each from Repco.

If they have internal pitting/corrosion from age, a new Master is $104, and a new slave is about $50

I had both leaking 2 weeks ago and with some patience and brake fluid I replaced all the seals and cleaned the system out, works like a charm now

clutch master and slave cylinder need changing. this was one of my first problem i had with my first 86. IMO just get some new ones, not that expensive. take the old ones off and put on the new ones. and most important bleed'em.
